FOB – FREE ON BOARD
SELLER’S OBLIGATIONS
MOST WRONGLY USED INCOTERM ? - Note that this incoterm might be the most used in international trade as it implies goods are loaded upon main mode of transport (in seller's country) and set to travel to buyer's country. So each partner in a sense take care of transport within their own borders. However this incoterm should not be used for container traffic. In such cases it is suggested to use FCA (Free Carrier). Also note that the USA have set their own incoterms all called FOB (Search: "Fob shipping point" & "Fob destination" {US accounting terms}).
FROM WAREHOUSE TO SHIP ? - How do goods get from seller's location unto the ship?
RISK - OVER SHIP’S RAIL ? - Where does risk transfer? Once goods have passed over the ship's rail (in the air)? or once loaded on board?
