CFR – COST AND FREIGHT
SELLER’S OBLIGATIONS
FROM WAREHOUSE TO SHIP ? - How are goods moved from seller's location onto the ship? In case of container traffic, it is suggested to use CPT (Carriage Paid To).
RISK - OVER SHIP’S RAIL ? - Risk passes to buyer once goods pass the ship's rail/loaded on board. However, seller still assumes costs until arrival at port.
----- ----- ----- ----- ----- -----
BUYER’S OBLIGATIONS
RISK PREMATURE ? - As seller assumes transport costs until arrival at port, but risk is transferred once on ship, there might be litigations as either vessel has been chosen by seller (pays for it), or by buyer (bears risk for it).
